It’s nice to take time out by yourself sometimes. I’ve almost forgotten what it was like, to have a meal by yourself. I realise that while I do like spending time with myself, immersed in a book or thinking up strange plans, the place that you go matters a big deal. If I tried having lunch alone in a crowded eatery, I’d get lonely, which is probably why I haven’t done it in a while.
I’m at Book Cafe now (half day, whoot!) and it’s simply the perfect place to be alone by yourself. In fact, most of the people here are.
I didn’t know how to get here and decided to take a bus. The bus stop was pretty far away and I found myself thinking “Where am I?” as I blindly walked down the street (a pretty long one at that), hoping to catch a glimpse of Martin Road on one of the ubiquitous green signboards we see so often on our streets.
For the first time in a very long time, I was lost in Singapore. And it was a great feeling. Eventhough it was hot and I was carrying my heavy bag, it felt like an adventure and now that I’m in the cafe (free wifi, double whoot!) I don’t feel like leaving.
Well, not till I get my traditional apple pie and my camomile tea. :)
